(Washington, DC) – President Trump is signing the Great American Outdoors act, which he calls a “truly landmark piece of legislation” aimed at preserving the country’s majestic national wonders, priceless historic treasures and national parks. At a White House ceremony, the President said that for more than 50 years, Congress has struggled to adequately fund land and water conservation, which he said has led to a backlog of maintenance and other critical needs in parks and public lands. According to the President, more than 5,500 miles of road, 17,000 miles of trails and 24,000 thousand buildings are in critical need of repair. The President called this a significant investment in the nation’s parks since the Theodore Roosevelt administration.
