Waverly Principals Resign After Superintendent Reinstated
(Waverly, IL) — The principals of both Waverly schools are resigning after the district’s superintendent has been reinstated. Dustin Day returned to work yesterday after being placed on administrative leave while a formal complaint by principals Tammy Hermes and Brian Cook was investigated. Hermes and Cook submitted their resignations yesterday. The complaint by Hermes and Cook alleged sexual harassment and ethical misconduct by Day. An independent investigator found certain allegations against Day to be “valid and justified.” The board agreed that there were concerns but ruled unanimously to keep Day. Day, Hermes, Cook, and other staff must take training regarding sexual harassment, and Day must take sensitivity training. The board is set to accept Hermes’ and Cook’s resignations at tonight’s meeting.
