The National Weather Service has issued a Freeze Warning from 1am to 9am for Friday, October 16 for the following counties: Knox-Stark-Peoria-Marshall-Woodford-Fulton-Tazewell-McLean-Schuyler-Mason-Logan-De Witt-Piatt-Champaign-Vermilion-Cass-Menard-Scott-Morgan-Sangamon-Christian-Macon-Moultrie-Douglas-Coles-Edgar-Shelby-Cumberland-Clark-Effingham-Jasper-Crawford-Clay-Richland and Lawrence.

* WHAT…Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 30 expected.
* WHERE…central and southeast Illinois.
* WHEN…From 1 AM to 9 AM CDT Friday.
* IMPACTS…Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops and other sensitive vegetation.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS… Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above- ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
