Thursday, October 15, 2020, Ed Dowd, Executive Director of the Mattoon Chamber of Commerce was a guest on 101.3 WMCI. Here is a brief description of what he covered during the interview:
- Coles County is still in the Orange Warning level for COVID-19 based on the State’s Restore Illinois Guidelines . We all need to continue to follow the 3 W’s to help get us back to the safe zone. Please wash your hands, wear a mask and watch your distance when you are in public places. We need to help keep our bars and restaurants open for indoor service and allow gatherings of up to 50 people.
- With the Holiday season fast approaching, it is even more important to support our local small businesses. Along with all of us, they have been hampered for nearly 9 months due to the pandemic. Please visit their establishments to show your support. If you are quarantined or at high risk, most local businesses will take your orders over the phone for curbside pick-up. You can also ask a friend or neighbor to shop for you. Our local small businesses are counting on each of us to make it through this pandemic and get back to normal operations. Before you click on your computer to place your online order take a few extra minutes to consider local options. I know you will be surprised that most things you order online are available right here in our community!
