Update at 7:40am, November 4, 2020: According to the Illinois State Police, I-74 East at Mattis is being opened now. Backups still exist on I-74 East, I-74 West (where it was one lane) and I-57 in both directions near I-74 due to the closure and divert. Please still expect delays as the roadway opens up.
According to the Illinois State Police, construction was not completed on time and the following traffic hazards are in place until 10 am – estimated, Wednesday, November 4, 2020:
All I-74 East traffic will be diverted to I-57 North at that interchange
All I-74 West traffic is down to one lane near Mattis Avenue overpass
Those traveling in this area should expect long back ups, be cognizant of sudden stops, and seek an alternate route if possible
