State Board Of Elections Addressing Rumors Surrounding Sharpie Marked Ballots
(Springfield, IL) — The State Board of Elections is addressing rumors surrounding the use of Sharpies to mark ballots. Officials say polling places in Chicago and suburban Cook County use a counting system that requires ballots to be filled out with a Sharpie. Election officials say bleed through does not affect the tabulation of answers on the ballots, and that any black Sharpie can be used. Some voters expressed concerns about the pens and whether their ballots would be properly counted.
