Two people were injured in a crash in Effingham County this morning, Wednesday, November 18, 2020. According to the Illinois State Police, a tractor-trailer driven by 37-year-old Markell McCottrell, of St. Louis, was westbound on I-70 when he ran off the roadway and struck a guardrail. The rig then entered the median and overturned, striking an IDOT overhead message board. McCottrell and his passenger, 41-year-old Christopher Lindsey, also of St. Louis, were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. McCottrell was cited for improper lane usage and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
