Horizon Health Foundation Donates Lifesaving Devices
(Paris, Ill.)—The Horizon Health Foundation of East Central Illinois recently donated automated external defibrillators (AEDs) to five local not-for-profit organizations.
Organizations that received AEDs are the Methodist Men’s Club in Paris, Community Bible Church in Paris, Georgetown Public Library, Chester P. Sutton Community Center in Paris, and Chrisman First Church of the Nazarene.
“Not all health issues can be treated at a hospital or doctor’s office. Saving lives begins where we are,” explained Dave Frisse, foundation board president. “Increasing the availability of defibrillation equipment is a good use of some of the funds our patients and friends have donated.”
AEDs are battery-operated, portable devices that check the heart’s rhythm and sends a shock to the heart to restore a normal rhythm. They are used to help people having sudden cardiac arrest.
The Foundation continues to provide funding for a variety of local projects. Projects have included Horizon Health’s EZ Care/NAL Health Clinic, outpatient surgery expansion, and the new Rehabilitation Services building on the Horizon Health campus.
