Suspected Drunk Driver Hits Squad Car, Kills Sheriff’s K9
(Boone County, IL) — The Boone County Sheriff’s Office says a suspected drunk driver hit a squad car, killing one of the department’s K9 dogs inside. The crash happened early yesterday morning when the suspect struck the rear of Deputy Robert Rosenkranz’s car as he and K9 Loki were conducting a traffic stop on I-90 near Irene Road. K9 Loki was taken to the emergency vet clinic in Rockford but died. The deputy was outside the vehicle and sustained minor injuries. Illinois State Police are investigating the crash. No word on any arrest or potential charges.
