Former Mattoon Fire Chief Oren Lockhart passed away Sunday, February 28, 2021. Lockhart was with the department from 1973 to 2002. In addition to chief, Lockhart also served as a driver, captain, director of fire safety, and developed the original Coles County Dive Team. Edwards Funeral Home of Arcola is handling arrangements.
