MLB To Host Inaugural “Lou Gehrig Day” June 2nd
(New York, NY) — Major League Baseball is set to honor one of the game’s best with a permanent day on the league’s schedule. The first ever “Lou Gehrig Day” will be held on June 2nd throughout the league. Along with honoring the New York Yankees legend, the league will also look to raise awareness and money to fight ALS, the disease that took Gehrig’s life and is informally known as “Lou Gehrig’s Disease.” The day will feature special uniform patches league-wide, along with red wristbands reading “4-ALS.” Gehrig joins Jackie Robinson and Roberto Clemente as the only three players in league history to have a day to celebrate his legacy.
