Effingham Police Department Welfare Check Leads to Discovery of a Dead Woman

A welfare check Thursday, March 11, 2021, by the Effingham Police Department led to the discovery of a dead woman.  When officers arrived at the apartment on Hillside Drive, they discovered the door was unlocked.  Upon entering, they found the body of 39-year-old Brookes Goldsberry.  Initial investigation indicated there was no trauma or injury to the deceased.  An autopsy is scheduled for Saturday morning to determine the cause of death.
