Mattoon police arrested Zachary C. Kowalis, age 29 of Bethany, on April 14th at 11:54 a.m. in the 800 block of Rudy Avenue. Kowalis was charged with Residential Burglary. The charge alleges that earlier in the month, Kowalis entered a Mattoon residence and stole a firearm. Said gun was recovered after Kowalis sold it to another person. Kowalis was taken to the Coles County jail.
