New EIU head coach Marty Simmons has locked in his first recruit. Simmons announced today the signing of Paul Bizimana, a 6’8 forward from Haltom High School in Texas. This past season Bizimana was named the UIL Class 6A District 3-6A MVP after leading his team to 17 wins including 11 wins in district play. He is a two-time All-Area selection and was named the third rated forward in the Dallas –Fort Worth Metro Area this season.
According to Coach Simmons, “Paul is skilled forward who has great length and athleticism. He brings intensity on both ends of the court and has played in a highly competitive program at Haltom City. His ability to score, both inside and out, makes him a key addition to our program. Paul comes from a great family and will bring character to the Eastern Illinois family and we look forward to his career as a Panther.”
