For Immediate Release- Press Release with Audio – State Senator Darren Bailey, April 28, 2021
State Senator Darren Bailey Details his Opposition to Senate Bill 814
The Illinois Senate passed new legislation Wednesday (April 28) further reinforcing so-called Culturally Responsive Teaching and Leading Standards.
In March, the State Board of Education adopted the same guidelines for classroom instruction setting up a situation where a teacher could be forced to violate their own conscious when it comes to exposing students to socially controversial topics.
Senate Bill 814 creates a new teacher and principal induction and mentoring program that will abide by the same Culturally Responsive Teaching and Leading Standards.
Senator Bailey, a former local school board member, spoke about the potential harm of unfunded, but mandated, centralized rules and regulations on local schools.
