State House Moving Proposal Forward To Ban School Hairstyle Discrimination
(Springfield, IL) — The Illinois House is moving forward with a proposal that would ban schools from discriminating against certain hairstyles. The proposal would eliminate the ability for public and private schools to prohibit hairstyles traditionally associated with race, ethnicity, or hair texture. The bill is headed back to the Senate for the approval of an amendment before it goes to Governor J.B. Pritzker’s desk.
