Illinois State Police Seeking Assistance from the Public
Thomasboro, IL – The Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) – Zone 5, is investigating a fatal, vehicle versus pedestrian, hit and run traffic crash on Interstate 57 southbound at mile post 245, near Thomasboro, Champaign County, IL.
On May 31, 2021, at approximately 4:15 a.m., a motorist passing through the above location notified ISP District 10 Patrol of a car in the right ditch. Once Troopers arrived, they discovered what appeared to be a deceased male on the shoulder of the interstate who had been struck by an unknown vehicle. The victim was identified as Kenrick D. Jones, 32-year-old male from Little Rock, AR.
A possible suspect vehicle has been identified as a 2010-2015 Gray or Silver Chevrolet Equinox with Illinois Registration. Anyone who has any knowledge of the incident is asked to contact the ISP at ISP.DCI.Zone05@Illinois.gov.
The ISP DCI – Zone 5 is leading the investigation and being assisted by ISP District 10 Patrol, ISP Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit, ISP Crime Scene Services, and Champaign County Coroner’s Office. The ISP is continuing this open and on-going investigation and no additional information will be released at this time.
