At their meeting last night, the Charleston school board decided to $4 million dollars in warrants in order to meet expenses before the district’s next fiscal year. This is the second year the district elected to take this course of action, which is being attributed to the lack of a state budget. No state education budget would mean school districts wouldn’t receive any state aid next year. Tax anticipation warrants are similar to a loan that will be repaid, with interest, once the district gets its next property tax revenue payments this summer.
