A pair of Illinois lawmakers is recommending different higher education funding plans during the budget crisis. The House Executive Committee approved a measure from Representative Rita Mayfield that would provide a year’s worth of funding to the universities taking the biggest financial hit. Representative Mike Fortner is proposing a bill that would cover one-third of the annual funding to all nine public universities and the MAP program.
