One woman was killed and three other victims are hospitalized after a shooting in Urbana. According to police, officers arrived at 1204 West Church Street just after 1:30 this morning and found the 42-year-old resident of the house, Johanna Cowart-Williams had been shot multiple times. Officers performed CPR, but were unsuccessful. Another victim, a 21-year-old woman, suffered serious injuries and two others were shot, but their injuries are less severe. The preliminary investigation indicates that 3 black males approached the residence on foot from the west, walked to the west side of the house and began shooting. Officers and detectives located over 60 bullet holes in the residence. Detectives are aware that this shooting is likely linked to a number of shootings and murders that have been recently occurring in the Champaign-Urbana area. The investigation is ongoing.
