Friday, August 20, 2021, Ed Dowd, Executive Director of the Mattoon Chamber of Commerce was a guest on 101.3 WMCI. Here is a brief description of what he covered during the interview:
- Back 2-Business Grant Program- This program provides grants for businesses who were adversely affected by the pandemic with grants from $5,000 up to $150,000 to cover operating costs, staffing and/or overhead costs. Grants are to be focused on the hardest hit businesses including salons, hotels, fitness centers and restaurants. However other businesses are welcome to apply as well. DIA’s or Disproportionately Impacted Communities, which include all of Coles County are also given priority. The good news is we have two local organizations, Coles Together and Elevate CCIC, Inc. Who are experts at helping businesses through the application process. All the details are available on their corresponding Facebook pages, or you can contact the Chamber for full details.
- Chamber Lobster Boil– The Mattoon Eagles will be hosting our event on Friday September 24th from 5:30 – 8:30 pm. Tickets which include a 1 1/4lb lobster with seasoned corn and potatoes, live music and a free drink of your choice for $50. The form is available on our website or a link on our Facebook page. You can also call or visit the Chamber to sign up in advance which is required. We will even have a bib for Bub!
- Remember, shop, dine and support all our local businesses, Please put down the computer and venture out to visit your friends, families and neighbors businesses which need your support to thrive and survive!
