“This legislation gets critical dollars to Eastern Illinois University and other institutions in dire need of funding right now.
“It’s a major step forward and helps EIU for the immediate future. It’s not as much as some wanted, but it is something we can afford for the moment.
“Students currently enrolled, or those looking to enroll in Illinois universities and community colleges, and employees can look to this legislation as a confidence booster that the Illinois legislature can work together to get things done.
“I am encouraged by this legislation as it sets a good tone going forward that we can work in a bi-partisan fashion.
“I am committed to finding an ultimate solution to higher education funding and will continue to work with leaders at EIU and my colleagues in Springfield to make ensure we don’t go down this road again.”
