Update: As of 6:00 p.m.:
All lanes of Interstate 57 are now open at Milepost 215 in Douglas County. For the safety of the public the semi was left in the median until tomorrow. Several vehicles are still slowing unnecessarily to take videos and pictures, PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS to prevent backups and keep other motorist safe!!!!!!
Update: As of 5:02 p.m.:
I-57 southbound lanes are clear at milepost 215. The tow company is removing the truck tractor semi-trailer from the northbound side of the interstate. Expect some delays on I-57 northbound at milepost 215. Traffic is still moving but moving slowly. Use caution…
Update: As of 4:00 p.m.:
The Illinois State Police have announced both North Bound lanes are open, while Southbound traffic is currently reduced to one lane along I-57 Milepost 215. Proceed using caution and slowing down when approaching the area.
As of 3:09 p.m.
The Illinois State Police and Local other local First Responders are on scene of a one unit traffic crash involving a truck tractor semi-trailer. The crash occurred on I-57 in the median at milepost 215 in Douglas county approximately 3 miles north of Tuscola, Illinois. Please Use Caution!!!, driving through the area on the south and northbound sides. Watch for slow moving or stopped traffic and watch for First Responders in the roadway in the area.
