10/29 Downtown Mattoon’s Trunk or Treat
Trunk or Treat returns to downtown Mattoon on October 29th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. The family-friendly event will feature decorated trunks and booths lined up along Broadway from 14th to 17th streets. They’ll also have games, food vendors, music, costumed characters and a spooky walk through Heritage Park.
10/30 Neoga Partnership for Progress – Annual Halloween Costume Contest
Neoga Partnership for Progress will have its annual Halloween costume contest at the fire department on October 30th. Registration starts at 5:15 and judging will follow at 5:30.
10/30 Greenup Halloween Celebration
The Greenup Halloween celebration and costume contest will be held October 30th at the Municipal Building. The evening will include kids’ games, a 50/50 raffle, hot dogs and hamburgers, ham and beans, a cake raffle and costume contests for all ages, including adults. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three places in each category.
10/30 Omega Nu Witches’ Walk & Ball
The annual Omega Nu Witches’ Walk and Ball will be October 30th. Check-in will start at 6:00 p.m. at the Mattoon American Legion. Dress in your best witch, warlock or wizard attire for a chance to win prizes. After three stops for drinks, the walk will return to the legion for the witches’ ball at 9:00. Tickets are $20 in advance and you can buy from an Omegu Nu member or at their Facebook page. Proceeds will benefit Camp New Hope, St. Jude, Special Olympics and other charities.
10/31 Effingham Sunrise Rotary Club Halloween Parade
The Effingham Sunrise Rotary Club will host its Halloween Parade October 31st, with line-up at noon along Maple, between Temple and Evergreen Avenues. The parade will start at noon. Entry forms are available at the Effingham County Chamber of Commerce’s website. The deadline is October 22nd. “Favorite Game Show” is the theme this year.
10/31 Arcola’s Trunk or Treat
The Arcola Chamber of Commerce is partnering with Arcola United Methodist Church for trunk-or-treat. It’ll be held in the church’s parking lot from 5:00-6:00 p.m. on Halloween. Local businesses that would like to get involved should call the chamber to reserve a spot.
