Public colleges in Illinois are getting a temporary lifeline while the budget impasse continues. Governor Rauner signed a bill into law that will release 600-million-dollars to fund public universities and community colleges through the summer. Rauner says the move doesn’t solve the budget crisis but it is a first step toward compromise between Democrats and Republicans.
