Corn planting in the Land of Lincoln is now on pace. Illinois corn farmers got a late start with planting this year, but they’ve more than made up for it and are now ahead of schedule. The National Agricultural Statistics Service says 42-percent of corn had been planted in the last week compared with 26-percent a week earlier. Warmer temperatures and drier weather allowed farmers to compensate for the delay caused by unusually cool, wet weather earlier this month.
