State Representative Adam Niemerg announces bid for newly drawn 102nd District
Dieterich, IL…State Representative Adam Niemerg (R-Dieterich) says Illinois needs more voices for Illinois families which is one of many reasons why he is running for State Representative in the 102nd District.
“What motivates me to run for office is looking at my kids and thinking about the future they will inherit,” Niemerg said. “The rights and liberties guaranteed by our Constitution are being threatened and if we don’t fight back, we will lose them.”
Adam is a fiscal conservative focused on reducing taxes and fighting for limited government and pension reform to spur the growth of business and jobs in his district and all of Illinois. He is pro-life, pro-Second Amendment rights and pro-parental rights.
One of Niemerg’s top priorities is getting rid of vaccine mandates in Illinois.
“There is no question COVID-19 is a serious concern, but public health should not be an excuse to take away our freedoms and liberties,” Niemerg said. “We should take steps to promote public health, but we must do so in the context of our rights as Americans. Our Constitutional rights are not conditional. They are guaranteed.”
Niemerg said he has introduced the Freedom Act (HB 4239) to protect the rights of individuals who object to COVID-19 vaccine mandates for religious reasons. The legislation makes it unlawful for any person, public or private institution, or public official to discriminate against any person in any manner because of such person’s refusal to obtain, receive, or accept a COVID-19 vaccination contrary to his or her beliefs.
Other priorities include repealing the recently signed into law ban on parental notification for abortions, enacting meaningful ethics reforms, fixing Illinois’ broken pension systems, and balancing the state budget.
“It is time we focused on the issues voters care about,” Niemerg said. “Voters care about their kids. They care about the kind of curriculum that is being taught in schools to their kids. They care about public safety. They want lower taxes. They want their leaders to pay attention to the real problems facing our state such as our broken pension system and the culture of corruption in Springfield. Voters want their voice to be heard. I am running to be their voice.”
Niemerg is a Teutopolis native and resides in rural Dieterich in Effingham County with his wife, Trina, and two small children. They are members of the St. Isidore Catholic Parish, and they attend St. Aloysius church. Adam graduated from Teutopolis High School in 2002 and received his bachelor’s degree from Eastern Illinois University.
