Thursday, January 27, 2022, Ed Dowd, Executive Director of the Mattoon Chamber of Commerce was a guest on 101.3 WMCI. Here is a brief description of what he covered during the interview:
- Mattoon Movie Connection – The Chamber received a very unique phone call this week! Craig Jordan (Torillo) a Hollywood actor called to find out about a local resident who he will be portraying in a new feature length film that is in production. The movie will be titled Revellie. Vert Enis Jr. who spent most of his adult life in Mattoon, was stationed in Italy during the Second World War and served along with one of the most decorated soldiers in American history, Audie Murphy. Craig called to find out as much information as possible about Vert’s life and to talk with local residents to learn and copy our local dialect. He was not sure how long the filming of the movie will take or when it will be released, but he said he is honored to portray Vert during his service to our Country. One unique bit of information about Vert is that he and his wife Eva were the original owners of Play-Mor miniature golf which is still in business in Peterson Park. Vert passed away in February of 2004 residing at Odd Fellow-Rebekah home here in Mattoon.
