The National Weather Service has issued a WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 6 AM WEDNESDAY TO MIDNIGHT CST THURSDAY NIGHT for Jasper-Crawford-Clay-Richland-Lawrence counties.
* WHAT…Heavy mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations of 5 to 8 inches, sleet accumulations up to 1/2 of an inch and ice accumulations around one tenth of an inch. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.
* WHERE…Jasper, Crawford, Clay, Richland and Lawrence Counties.
* WHEN…From 6 AM Wednesday to midnight CST Thursday night.
* IMPACTS…Travel could be very difficult to impossible. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. Power outages may also occur.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS… If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
