Illinois State Police Track Down and Secure Charges Against Aggravated Vehicular Hijacking Suspect
Chicago, IL – Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) Zone 1 Agents charged Javori Robinson, an 18-year-old male from Chicago, IL with Aggravated Vehicular Hijacking (Class X Felony) and Unlawful Restraint (Class 4 Felony).
On March 31, 2022, at approximately 1:55 a.m., ISP District Chicago Troopers responded to the ramp from Interstate 94 northbound to Interstate 290 westbound for an aggravated vehicular hijacking that occurred. The victim reported his vehicle was side swiped by another vehicle as he was traveling in the area. The victim pulled over to report the crash and was approached by the suspect who allegedly displayed a gun and demanded the victim’s keys. The victim was not injured and notified the police after the suspect drove off in his vehicle.
ISP Zone 1 Agents immediately began a thorough and exhaustive investigation and identified Robinson as the suspect. On April 22, 2022, the Cook County State Attorney’s Office completed a direct indictment for Robinson on the charges of Aggravated Vehicular Hijacking and Unlawful Restraint, due to Robinson already being in custody at the Cook County Jail. Robinson remains in custody at the Cook County Jail. The investigation is ongoing and there is no further information available.
The public is reminded that all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
