Uvalde Mayor: City Is Strong Community
(Uvalde, TX) — The mayor of a Texas city that’s suffering from a school shooting that left 19 students and two adults dead says his town is strong and will get through this. Uvalde [[ yoo-VAHL-dee ]] Mayor Don McLaughlin called the scene in the classroom horrific and said no one should ever have to witness what those officers did on Tuesday. McLaughlin said the shooter was already being pursued after allegedly shooting his grandmother while adding it’s unclear exactly how he got inside the school. The mayor said the shooter’s grandmother was the one who called 911 and alerted authorities of the ongoing situation.
