The search for an Illinois man believed to be involved in the shooting of a central Illinois police officer is over.
WCIA-TV reports Dracy “Clint” Pendleton has been found dead after a shootout with FBI officers near the Shawnee National Forest in southern Illinois.
During the shootout early Sunday morning, an FBI agent was injured, but is expected to recover.
Police believe Pendleton was responsible for shooting Mahomet police officer Jeremy Sharlow, last weekend.
Sharlow has been recovering at home.
The Illinois State Police say their investigation is ongoing.
