We Can and Do Recover: Anti-Stigma Campaign for Substance Use and Recovery
The ROSC Council in Douglas County is launching a 12-month Anti-Stigma Campaign titled “We Can and Do Recover.” This campaign aims to challenge the stigma surrounding substance use recovery by sharing stories of resilience, promoting understanding, and fostering support. Our goal is to create a more inclusive and empathetic society towards individuals in recovery.
Recovery from substance use is a journey that requires strength, courage, deserving of respect, support, and acceptance from all members of society. The campaign will feature personal recovery stories, educational workshops, community panel discussions, family-friendly events, and engaging social media content to create a supportive environment for those recovering from substance use disorders.
Through the “We Can and Do Recover” campaign, we seek to cultivate a culture of empathy, understanding, and support for individuals in recovery from substance use disorders. By breaking down barriers, challenging stigma, and fostering inclusivity, we can create a society where everyone can flourish. We invite you to join us in embracing the journey of recovery and positively impacting our community.
Recovery Oriented Systems of Care (ROSC), is a group of individuals and representatives of organizations in Douglas County, who recognize that there are members of our community who have drug and alcohol substance use disorders who have a better chance of staying healthy in recovery if we develop an understanding of the disease and make our communities supportive of those who seek help for this illness. ROSC builds on the strengths and resiliencies of individuals, families, and communities to help community members achieve recovery and improved health, wellness, and quality of life for those with or at risk of substance use disorders.
