A Salem man died following a single-vehicle accident in Cumberland County last night. According to the Illinois State Police, a vehicle driven by David Essary of Indianapolis was driving erratically on I-70 and passing cars on the right shoulder before leaving the roadway and rolling multiple times down an embankment. His passenger, 27-year old Dustin Garner was killed. Essary was charged with DUI-alcohol, possession of drug paraphernalia, no insurance, driving on a suspended license, failure to reduce speed, transportation of alcohol, reckless driving, improper lane usage, and driving on the shoulder.
