Taylorville edged Mattoon 4-3 in high school baseball action at Grimes Field Tuesday evening. The Tornadoes pushed across an unearned run in the top of the 7th to claim their second conference win of the season. The game was tied at 1 after the first inning and was knotted back up again at 3 after the fourth. The eventual game-winning run was scored by Taylorville’s Carter Hennings on a wild pitch. Brendan Prince had two hits, an RBI, and a run scored for Mattoon. Derek Sharp knocked in a run for the Greenwave as well. Mattoon fell to 0-5 in the Apollo Conference with the setback.
