Water has been restored to Shelbyville school buildings! BUT… a boil order remains in effect for the high school, including the kindergarten, and over at Moulton Elementary. Despite that, Shelbyville Schools administration says they plan to be open and operating as normal for tomorrow, Friday, April 24th, as long as the water supply remains intact as it is now.
The district has been in contact with the Shelby County Health Department throughout the day to determine how to safely operate during the boil order. Students at the affected buildings are encouraged to bring their own water in individual-sized containers, though drinking water will also be available at each school. Restrooms will have hand washing instructions posted and hand sanitizer available for the duration of the order. All home extracurricular events are also cleared to go on as scheduled which includes any events set to take place today.
One additional note for families however, as a result of today’s water emergency and main break, the last day of school for students has been moved to May 27th, with a 2:00 p.m. dismissal. The district says it will continue to send updates if anything changes.
