If you’re looking for a fun summer evening out while supporting a great cause, Catholic Charities of Coles, Douglas and Edgar Counties might have just the thing.
The organization is hosting its ‘Duck Race’ fundraiser on Friday, June 12th at Lytle Pool, located at 3298 Cedar Avenue in Mattoon. The event runs from 6 to 8 p.m. and is one interesting sounding fundraiser, one of the more “out of bounds” events that you’ll find in our area. Ducks are $5 each or five for $20, and the prizes are worth racing for… $250 for first place, $100 for second, and a Catholic Charities Resale Store gift card for a third place finish. The event is sponsored in part by Sarah Bush Lincoln and Central Roofing.
Can’t make it out that evening? Catholic Charities says donations are always welcome and deeply appreciated. The organization serves the community through a wide range of programs including their Food Pantry, Mobile Food Pantry, clothing and furniture assistance, MedAssist, Blessed Baby, an ‘Adaptive Equipment Loan Program,’ and the Boomerang Blessings Resale Store.
Area Director Joshua Benton said in a written release that everyone needs a helping hand at some point, and Catholic Charities exists to provide exactly that.
