An 18 year old Charleston woman found herself behind bars after police say she returned to a residence she had previously been trespassed from, that ban from the property came about just a day prior. After returning to the residence, the Charleston teen injured an officer while resisting arrest and reportedly damaged equipment during the altercation as well.
Ashlyn J. Evans, just 18, was detained and placed at the Coles County Jail. Police cited her repeated criminal behavior and the threat she posed to law enforcement and public safety as the basis for detention.
Charleston Police were called to the 500 block of North Division Street on Wednesday, June 24th, for a criminal trespass in progress. Officers determined that Evans had been previously arrested and trespassed from that very location. When officers attempted to take her into custody, Evans actively resisted, causing injury to an officer and damaging equipment in the process.
Following this incident, she faces charges of criminal damage to “state supported property,” aggravated assault to a peace officer, criminal trespass, and resisting a peace officer.
All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
