The 17th Annual ‘Illinois Run for the Fallen’ is now set for Saturday, August 15th, 2026 at Linder Sports Complex, located at 2924 Community Drive in Charleston. This special tradition and community event is completely free to attend and does not require you to participate in the run itself. Things will kick off at 7 a.m. and run until 1 p.m..
The Illinois Run for the Fallen is a “non-political event” dedicated to honoring Illinois Armed Forces members who lost their lives in the Global War on Terror. It’s an easy mission to get behind and is just as simple to participate in. If you decide to sign up, you’ll walk or run one mile in honor of a specific fallen service member, likely one that impacted you.
Don’t know a veteran personally? Well, if you don’t have a service member in mind, one can be assigned to you. There’s nothing stopping you from a show of support for those that lost their lives in the line of duty.
Pre-registration is preferred and can be done by downloading a form at www.illinoisrunforthefallen.com/registration and returning it by email to carolyn@illinoisrunforthefallen.com.
You can also bring a completed form to the event and register on site.
For questions, contact Carolyn Cloyd at 217-235-4984 or Gail Bahney at 217-234-4746. You can also find the event on Facebook by searching “Run for the Fallen Illinois.”
One mile. One hero. It’s a small ask for the people who gave everything.
