Effingham gun owners just got some help with navigating some of the more frustrating parts of state bureaucracy… FOID card applications and Concealed Carry licenses.
State Senators Jason Plummer and Steve McClure announced a new Illinois State Police kiosk in town that offers in-person, face-to-face assistance with Firearm Owner’s Identification cards and Concealed Carry Licenses, cutting down on the guesswork that comes with doing it all online. The kiosk is set up at 401 Industrial Drive, Suite A, and will be open weekdays from 8 a.m. to noon and again from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Plummer said the goal is simple: make it easier for law-abiding residents without getting tangled up in red tape.
Illinois State Police Staff that are at the kiosk can help with new applications, renewals, and account updates, take and upload the required photo, fix rejected applications, submit ‘Firearm Disposition’ records, and process card surrenders when necessary. There’s also a public computer on-site for anyone who wants to handle their application or updates themselves. McClure said the goal is cutting down on frustration and giving residents a local, convenient alternative to going it alone.
