Just yesterday, a sizable blaze that was rumored to have begun as a ‘field fire’ in Humboldt, kept multiple area fire departments busy for hours on Sunday evening. No injuries were reported as of last night. Per reporting from the Daily Eastern News, 2 homes including one two-story residence, and 2 trailers were completely destroyed as a result.
John McMillan with the Humboldt Fire Protection District said crews responded to the 400 block of Southside Drive around 5 p.m. on Sunday after reports of a large fire, and once on scene, found multiple structures burning, including a two-story home and several trailers.
By 7:30 p.m., McMillan said the fire was mostly contained, though crews were expected to remain on scene for several more hours completing overhaul work and making sure any remaining hotspots were fully extinguished. (Credit: WCIA 3)
At this time, no definitive cause for the fire has been named. We assume the families that were affected were referred to the American Red Cross and other organizations, after their homes were declared complete losses. Our thoughts and prayers are with those that lost so much last night… We will continue to monitor the story as more information continues to come about!
