The Coles County Coroner’s Office provided the name of the lone victim in a fatal motorcycle crash on Saturday, 20-year-old Ezra Weber of Trilla. The accident occurred around the Coles and Cumberland County line near Trilla, shutting down U.S. Route 45 for several hours.
Weber was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash happened around 3:45 p.m. on Saturday, when the Coles County Sheriff’s Office first alerted that deputies were responding to a ‘serious’ accident. U.S. Route 45 would not reopen until about 8:30 p.m. Saturday following a crash investigation and accident cleanup. The Illinois State Police Crash Reconstruction Team also responded to the scene that same afternoon.
Sheriff Kent Martin indicated to WCIA 3 on Sunday, that additional details about the circumstances of the crash would likely be released today (Monday.) The investigation remains ongoing at this time.
