MATTOON, Ill. — Illinois Extension is celebrating 11 new Master Naturalist graduates who are ready to support conservation efforts and share their knowledge of the natural world with their communities.
The newest graduates are Zeb Collier, Beth Connelly, Brandalyn Curry, Troye Kauffman, Mason Reeley, Lisa Reynolds, Mickey Smith, Laura Sparks, Cythia Staszak, Tara Tackett and Avelyne Walk.
Throughout their training, participants explored a variety of topics, including water conservation, soil types, forestry, botany, ornithology, aquatic life, entomology and environmental ethics. The training provided a foundation for understanding local ecosystems and the importance of protecting natural resources.
“We are excited to welcome these new Master Naturalists and see how they put their knowledge into action,” said Jenny Lee, horticulture educator with Illinois Extension. “Their dedication to learning about the natural world and serving their communities will help support conservation and environmental education efforts throughout the area.”
As certified Master Naturalists, these volunteers can apply their knowledge through volunteer service, conservation projects and community education. Their efforts will help connect community members with nature and encourage environmental stewardship.
Illinois Extension congratulates the newest graduates and looks forward to the positive impact they will make in their communities.
