A tropical flower blooming every other year since 2008 at the Thut Greenhouse since 2008 will bloom again on the campus of Eastern Illinois University. The Titan Arum, known also by its nickname “the corpse flower”, is very large and is distinctive (no pun intended) by its gruesome smell it produces when it blooms. It is unknown when the flower will bloom exactly, and staff will not know until a day before it occurs. But one thing about the flower is known, it will smell like roadkill in a dumpster. Keep an eye on the Thut Greenhouse’s Twitter page for more updates on the Titan Arum.
