The Illinois State Board of Education decided to stop administering a state achievement test in part because of concerns from the federal government. That’s according to a letter received by the “Chicago Tribune” which says the U.S. Department of Education accused the State of Illinois of violating federal law for the manner in which it distributed the Partnership for the Achievement of Readiness for College and Careers exam to high school students in 2015 and this year. According to the letter, Illinois was labeled a high risk of violating federal testing requirements in April. The state announced last week it’s ditching the PARCC exam in favor of the SAT.
