A Charleston man was taken into custody on Friday and charged with arson. According to the Mattoon Police Department, 26 year-old Vincent Johnson knowingly without authority lit a fire at the residence at 1820 Olive Avenue with the intent to burn it down. Johnson was taken to the Coles County jail pending the filing of formal charges.
