It’s free and it’s to honor and remember those in the state of Illinois, who have lost their lives fighting for our country in battle. It’s the annual Run for the Fallen, and it’s this Saturday in Charleston at the Charleston High School Track.
Please be sure to make your way out anytime between 7 AM and 1 PM and it is free to attend. Once you register, participants will run or walk 1 mile for a fallen soldier from the state of Illinois. Participants can run or walk for a relative, friend, or someone they know or even if you don’t know a fallen soldier you can still walk for one for a card will be given to you upon registration with information about your soldier. After the mile is complete, plant a flag in the end zone and ring the Liberty Bell in honor of their name.
