A three vehicle personal injury crash Tuesday, February 7th along I-70 westbound at milepost 151 sends one to the hospital. The crash occurred at approximately 12:30 PM.
According to preliminary details in a recent press release from Illinois State Police district 12, Carnell Bush, 46, of Columbus,Mississippi (unit 1) was driving a Freightliner in the right lane of I-70 near milepost 151 in Clark County. Driving in front of of unit 1 was David Young, 51, of Sidney, Ohio (unit 3) and driving in the left lane behind unit 1 was Veronika Cvancara, 20, of Duluth, Minnesota (Unit 2).
As unit 2 proceeded to pass unit 1, unit 1 failed to notice and attempted to make a lane change to the left with unit 2 right beside. It then caused unit 2 to swerve off the roadway to the left then over correct and swerve off the roadway to the right ditch. Unit 1 then tried swerving back into the right lane, but unit 3 was now to his right and ended up getting stuck by unit 1 which caused unit 3 to spin around and hit the trailer of unit 1 a second time before everyone came to a complete stop.
Unit 3 was transported to Union Hospital in Terre Haute, and unit 1 has been charged with improper lane usage.
