According to a MPD press release, Mattoon police arrested Maverick C. Bowman, age 26 of Mattoon, on Wednesday Feb. 15th at 8:44 p.m. at the MPD. Bowman was charged with Aggravated Assault, Battery, and Obstructing a Peace Officer. The arrest stemmed from an incident that occurred in the 1600 block of Marshall Ave. at 5:08 p.m. The charges against Bowman allege that he threatened another man with a knife, that he pepper sprayed the man, and that he lied to police during the course of a criminal investigation by purporting to be the victim of an assault. Bowman was taken to the jail.
