(Chicago, IL) — A federal judge is sending the one-time owner of the Chicago Rush Arena Football team to prison for scamming investors. As he sentenced David Staral, federal judge Ronald Guzman said in 20 years on the bench, he’d never seen anyone who committed fraud in so many ways. Staral lied to the Arena Football League and other investors about his net worth, his felony record, his debts and his previous fines for another scam. He then failed to pay the players or the team’s vendors before the League took control of the now-defunct team. Staral was in bankruptcy proceedings at the time in 2013 and he also hid his acquisition of the team from the bankruptcy court. He’s been sentenced to more than three years in prison.
